Lupercalia

Lupercalia

If we still worshiped Fanus,
deemed Romulus and Remus
worthy of our respect,
would you let me lash you
with goat hide dipped in blood?

If a slip of chance intervened
and I had pulled your name
from the urn at city square,
would our year together
still have ended in ever after?

If Claudius II still ruled
and forced me to serve Rome
separated from your affection,
would you defy the Emperor
and vow with me before Valentine?

If I fell captive at Agincourt
and was a prisoner of Henry V
held in the Tower of London,
would you tarry at Orleans
‘til we could again embrace?

If I bought you fine jewels
and composed an epic poem
of devotion throughout time,
would the gesture be enough
for you, my love, my Valentine

The first stanza would kinda creep me out...but the rest of it was so AWESOME!

I hope she liked it.

i bet she liked it - and the composing of an epic poem probably has more effect than buying jewels..smiles
