Scars in the Afterglow

Scars in the Afterglow

Her skin still glistened, wet
with the remnants of ecstasy.
I, with the gentlest touch,
began to trace the scars
on her back with my fingers.
Slowly she drifted off
as I kissed her shoulder.
I savored the saltiness on my lips
and her scent filled my senses.
The motion of time gave way to stillness
as I continued to trace the scars.
She woke, and with a sad smile sighed,
“so that is how it’s supposed to be”.
She dressed quickly,
seductive red satin falling
delicately over the cicatrix maze
that was forever etched in my mind.

Sensuous -- written around a center of pain..previous, once, perhaps again. Tres tristesse as the French might say if I got my gender right. I guess it really is all about getting the gender right. I thought this touching, well written, tight.

Very sensual piece.

The two terms that come to mind when reading this are "sophisticated" and "elegant". It's well constructed, sensual without being cheaply erotic. It's fine stuff.

romantic and painful...for not to know what true loving is, carrying scars of a past...is sad and hard to resolve even with time...bkm

The picture is lovely, and so is the poem. The words feel soft and tender and etched with sadness.

I adore this piece, for reasons I'm not sure I can explain. By far, one of my very favorites of yours, so far :)

Wow, that is a sensuous concoction of beauty and pain. Stunning to the senses and intriguing to the imagination.

Sensuous yet controlled, the undertones being more powerful than what's said. Great shot!
