In Dreams She Waits

In Dreams She waits

I dreamt of her
again last night,
the dark beauty
that visits me
in the hours
between horizons.

I do not know her,
but in that place--
that time, she
is as familiar as
a mother’s embrace.

She always departs
just before dawn,
places her hand
on my cheek, kisses me
and promises to return.

She is the smile
my wife asks me about
in the sobering light
of morning, the escape
I seek in the unbearable
wait of the day.

Smiling too much is always a dead giveaway!

I specially like that last stanza - there is a heavy emotional despair trailing your words ~

Happy week ~

if life for whatever reason doesn't hold what it promised it can happen quickly that we disappear in all kind of dreams.. reminded me a bit of my childhood when i dreamed myself away to better places... and the made up people become familiar like family members over the time...

the escape i seek & smile my wife asks me about...even still its a dream, and what would we throw away for our imagination...we all have those escapes though

I imagine this is not what usually means with sweat dreams, though they clearly are, and the end tells me of tension that really is quite sad.

It's okay to dream...

....and I believe it is healthy for our psyche to dream a lot..

Gosh, I wouldn't let your wife read this if I were you. So tantalizing:)

You succeed in creating a very dream-like feeling.
