Simplicity

Simplicity

Sunday morning--
sunlight chases tiny rabbits
across the bedroom floor,
and you are beautiful
in the shadows.

Blankets pulled overhead
keep Saturday night’s toll
at bay for the moment,
and you are enticing
in the goose down.

Newsprint smudged
fingers fetch aspirin
with sparkling water back,
and you are sexy
in the naked daylight.

I fell in love with you
on just such a morning,
3000 miles to the west,
and you were beautiful
in the retreating fog.

Romantic, tastefully erotic, strong use of concrete details and metaphorical notions.

Sweet...foggy days and foggy brains...I know them well.

Thank you for the sentiment of my city - she is a beauty
I'm sure the lady is too

Love the double meaning - you have to live there to feel that blanket being pulled over you each night (albeit a cold and wet one)

Nice One Shot

You've made me sigh a deep sigh, missing both San Francisco and Sunday morning sunlight.

Very sweetly written Steven. I don't think I've read much in the way of romance in your work, but you expressed beautifully in this! ~April

As I was reading I kept on getting flashes that I was watching an old black and white detective story, your words being the talk-over while he walks down the street. Loved the image it created and the mood!

I enjoyed the simplicity of it all... and your words..

'and you are sexy
in the naked daylight.
I fell in love with you
on just such a morning,'

... created the perfect image of your thoughts... a memory fading away on the fog...
Thanks for sharing...

This piece sizzles with eroticism... yet your imagery is just as intense. Well done.
